Sant Joan de Labritja is the capital of the municipality. It is a little village, like all the others that make up the municipality and is made up of some 169 inhabitants who form the core, and approximately some 726 disseminated inhabitants. In this village you can find one of the most important tourist places of the municipality, PORTINATX, which is a nucleus for tourists with hotels and apartments with some 5000 places available for tourists. It has picturesque, sandy beaches between mountain chains, populated with pine trees. The patron saint of the parish is Sant Juan Bautista, whose saint’s day is celebrated on June 24th. There are numerous celebrations, which are common to all the parishes of the municipality (mass, procession, street parties, theatre, competitions, sports etc.). The “ Fires of Sant Joan” are the most typical and characteristic of the celebrations of Sant Joan, which are accompanied by noisy and explosive firecrackers. This is a celebration that dates back to ancient times. |
